Szymon Konaszczuk - Benches

Matthew Laycock - Untitled

Most people have an established notion of what a public park is, so much so that when the word ‘park’ is mentioned, they already have an image in their head.

What I find significant about these spaces are park benches, the interaction people have with them and how they are actually used. They have become a key element in a peaceful environment. This exhibit then sets out to convey the relationship between a park bench and open space and tranquility.

Deanna Beverley Kitts - Success comes with a cost

My visual outcomes reflect a series of events in my personal life and the use of Public Parks. I have taken the opportunity to create pieces that communicate subliminal messages, thoughts, quotes and lyrics. These can all be associated with my journey, and the viewing audience can make their own interpretation. Public parks are places where individuals visit for a number of reasons, I focused on the act of clearing the mind and seeking a sense of direction. The intention here is to empower the viewer using my own strengths when dealing with all that life gives.

Rhys Hoyte - Untitled

Influenced by Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life this work work aims to focus on the positive and negative consequences of our intervention and disruption of the natural environment. The film sets out to explore the idea of the park as an escape for people but also on a grander scale the effect people have on the environment as a whole… by looking at and using ‘the park’ as a representation of nature.

Danielle Lowe - One Photo. Many Memories

Why take one photo when you can take hundreds? Inspired by the work of David Hockney, I brought to life the space I loved as a child and still do to this day, in doing so I found there is more than one way to take a single photograph.

Because happiness isn’t about material things, it is about spending it with who you love, in places you love. Mine is the Park, Where is yours?

Qingwen Yang - One Tree One Day

The Public Park is an important place in the city, trees bring with them fresh air and a relaxed mood for people. This work documents something of my experience of walking around this natural space and taking photographs of trees, different from the city, the evergreens and the squirrels make the park appear full of vigour.

Katarzyna Wozniak - Park Experience

The film documents responses to questions around the role played by public parks in people’s everyday lives. In order to convey the differences between personal experience and statistical information, four people were asked about their reasons for visiting the park on a particular day and their answers compared and contrasted with data around parks and green spaces. Responses highlight the important contribution made by public parks to people’s emotional and physical well being.
